Early life
Welch was born Jo Raquel Tejada in Chicago, Illinois, the oldest of three children and the daughter of Josephine Sarah (née Hall) and Armando Carlos Tejada Urquizo. Her father immigrated from La Paz, Bolivia, her mother was an Irish-American.
In 1942, Armando Tejada was transferred to San Diego, California. The family moved to the suburb of La Jolla, where Welch grew up. She took dancing lessons as a child, and was winning beauty pageants by the time she was a teenager. Among her titles were "Miss Photogenic," "Miss La Jolla," "Miss Contour," and "Miss San Diego." In 1957, she was named "Miss Fairest of the Fair" at the San Diego County Fair, and won the Maid of California 1957 title, at the California State Fair. After attending La Jolla High School (Class of 1958), she entered San Diego State College on a theater arts scholarship. The following year she married a high school sweetheart, James Welch.
Career
In 1959, Welch played the title role in the famous Ramona Pageant, a yearly outdoor play at Hemet, California, which is based on the novel Ramona by Helen Hunt Jackson and Bob Biloe.
Welch as Loana in One Million Years B.C. (1966)She became a weather forecaster at KFMB, a local San Diego television station. Because of her heavy schedule, she decided to leave college. Her marriage broke up and she moved with her two children, Damon and Latanne, to Dallas, Texas, where she modeled for Neiman Marcus and worked as a cocktail hostess, intending to move on to New York City from there.
Instead, Welch moved back to California and found a place in Los Angeles and started making the rounds of the movie studios. She was cast in bit parts in two films and in the television shows Bewitched, McHale's Navy, and The Virginian, as well as on the weekly variety series The Hollywood Palace as a billboard girl and presenter of acts.
Welch's first featured role came in the beach film A Swingin' Summer, which led to a contract with 20th Century Fox. She was subsequently cast in a leading role in the sci-fi hit Fantastic Voyage (1966), which made her a star. She was the last star created under the studio system.
On loan out to Hammer Studios in Britain, Welch starred in the remake of One Million Years B.C. striking an iconic pose in a prehistoric animal-skin bikini, a poster of her from the film appeared the 1994 motion picture The Shawshank Redemption. After her appearance as lust incarnate in the hit Bedazzled, she returned to the U.S. and appeared in the Western film Bandolero!, with James Stewart and Dean Martin, which was followed by the private-eye drama "Lady in Cement" with Frank Sinatra.
Welch's most controversial role by far came in the notorious Myra Breckinridge with Mae West. She took the part as the film's transsexual heroine in an attempt to be taken seriously as an actress, but the movie turned out to be a dismal failure.
Welch became one of the leading sex symbols of the 1960s and 1970s. Her most memorable publicity still for One Million Years B.C. became a bestselling poster. Playboy called her the "Most Desired Woman" of the 1970s. Despite her sex symbol persona in films and countless magazine layouts, including one for Playboy, Welch never appeared nude in a film or posed nude for a magazine.
In 1970, Welch teamed up with Tom Jones and producer/choreographer David Winters of Winters-Rosen Productions for the TV special "Raquel!". Considered by some viewers to be a classic 1970s timepiece, pairing together pop-culture icons in their prime. The multi million-dollar TV song-and-dance extravaganza was filmed around the world, from Paris to Mexico. Lavish production numbers of classic songs from the era, extravagant costumes, and notable guest performances, including John Wayne and Bob Hope in the Wild West. Welch and Jones, two of the 1970s biggest stars, made it an indispensable time capsule full of glamor, wit, and talent.[citation needed]
The actress was due to star in an 1982 adaptation of John Steinbeck's Cannery Row, but was fired by the producers a few days into production (allegedly, she was taking too long to get ready each day). She was replaced with Debra Winger. Welch successfully sued, collecting a multi-million dollar award, but this effectively ended her film acting career until the mid-1990s.[citation needed]

In a 1997 episode of the comedy series Seinfeld entitled The Summer of George, Welch played a highly temperamental version of herself, assaulting series characters Kramer and Elaine, the former because he fired her from an acting job and the latter because Welch mistakenly thought that Elaine was mocking her.
She also appeared as a guest on the popular American TV series Sabrina the Teenage Witch, as Sabrina's flamboyant Aunt Vesta.
She joined the cast of Welcome to the Captain, which premiered on CBS television on February 4, 2008.
Beauty business career
The Raquel Welch Total Beauty and Fitness Program was published in 1984. The book, written by Welch herself, includes a Hatha Yoga fitness program, her views on healthy living/nutrition, as well as beauty and personal style. As a businesswoman, Welch has had success with her signature line of wigs. She also began a jewelry and skincare line although neither of those ventures compared to the success of her wig collection, the Raquel Welch Signature Wig Collection from HAIRuWEAR http://www.hairuwear.com.
On May 16, 2004, Raquel Welch joined thousands of men, women, and children at the 32nd annual Walk and Roll fundraiser in her hometown of Chicago, IL. Raquel was on hand to lend her support to those gathered to raise money for the fight against cancer.
During the opening ceremony, Raquel shared the story of her own cousin's fight with the disease. Her cousin had lost much of her hair as a result of chemotherapy and asked Raquel for some wigs. Soon after receiving them, her cousin called to tell Raquel how wonderful wearing the wigs made her feel. Upon hearing this, Raquel realized that her company, the Raquel Welch Signature Wig Collection, could bring similar happiness into the lives of women undergoing hair loss due to cancer treatment. That, she explained, is why her company donated over 6,500 wigs in 2003 to the American Cancer Society.
Before cutting the ribbon to begin the Walk and Roll, Raquel had the honor of meeting some of the women who have received wigs from the donation. It was an emotional meeting for the women and Raquel.
The Walk and Roll is an annual fundraiser for walkers, cyclists, and skaters in the Chicago area and has raised over $11 million dollars for cancer research over the last 32 years.
In January 2007, she was revealed as the newest face of MAC Cosmetics Beauty Icon series. Her line features several limited edition makeup shades in glossy black and tiger print packaging.

Tahnee followed her mother's December 1979 example and appeared on the cover of Playboy in the November 1995 issue. Damon married Rebecca Trueman, the daughter of cricketing legend Fred Trueman, but the marriage was short-lived.
Welch is a fan of the British football club Chelsea FC, or was "in the '70s".

Henry Fonda'nın kızı olan Jane Fonda, Actor's Studio'da öğrenim görüp, kısa bir süre sahneye çıktıktan sonra, 1960'ta sinemaya geçti. Peşpeşe oynadığı filmlerle, Cat Ballou, (1965), Son Gerçek ya da Atları da Vururlar (They Shoot Horses, Don't They, 1909) gibi, kısa sürede dönemin en iyi kadın oyuncuları arasında sayılmaya başlanıp, 1971'de Fahişe (Klute), 1978'de Eve Dönüş (Comming Home) adlı filmlerle iki kez Oscar ödülünü almıştır.
Kadın hakları için çalışıp, Vietnam Savaşı'na karşı çıkarak ve azınlık topluluklarının haklarının korunması için çalışarak toplumsal alanda da etkili olup, bir yandan da sinema oyunculuğunu sürdürdü: Agnes of God (1982), Stanley ve Iris (Stanley and Iris, 1990) filmlerinden bazıları. Stanley ve Iris filminden sonra Fonda, sinema filmi çekmeme kararı almış, ancak 2005 yılında sinemaya Vay Kaynanam Vay filmiyle dönüş yapmıştır. Filmin gişe açısından elde ettiği başarı Fonda'yı rahatlatmıştır. Filmden sonra Fonda pek çok reklam filmi teklifi almış ve aralarından L'Oréal firmasını seçmiştir. En son 2007 yılında Georgia Yasası filminde rol almıştır.

Çekici fiziği ile genelde evhamlı, sinirli, başarıya şartlanmış ve azimli kadınları canlandırmış olan Faye Dunaway 1965 yılında başladığı sinemada şöhreti 1967 yılında başrolünü Warren Beatty ile paylaştığı Arthur Penn filmi Bonnie and Clyde filmi ile yakalamıştı. Sinemadan önce de tiyatroda Elia Kazan'la çalışmıştı.
Biyografisi
14 Şubat 1945'te ABD'nin Florida eyaletinin Bascom şehrinde dünyaya geldi, doğumunda verilen ismi Dorothy Faye Dunaway'di. Babası orduda subay olan Faye Boston Üniversitesi'nde "tiyatro sanatları" bölümünde okuduktan sonra Elia Kazan ve Robert Whitehead'in yönetimindeki "Lincoln Merkez Repertuar Kumpanyası"na katıldı. Burada 1962 ve 1967 yılları arasında aralarında "A Man for All Seasons" ve Arthur Miller'in "After the Fall"unun da olduğu birçok önemli oyunda rol aldı. Arthur Miller'ın oyununda Marilyn Monroe'yu canlandırıyordu. Broadway dışı bir oyun olan "Hogan's Goat"da gösterdiği olağandışı performans onun için bir çıkış oldu ve yönetmen Otto Preminger'le bir sözleşme yapmasını sağladı. 1967'de birlikte ilk filmi olan Hurry Sundown'ı çektiler, ancak Preminger'le araları çabuk bozuldu ve Dunaway yönetmenin "Skidoo" adlı filminde oynamayı reddetti ancak ortada bir sözleşme vardı. Los Angeles'da Arzu Tramvayı (A Streetcar Named Desire)'nın bir sahne uyarlamasında Blanche du Bois rolünde oynadıktan sonra Stanley Kramer'ın 1973 tarihli filmi Oklahoma Crude ile tekrar sinemaya döndü. Aynı yıl Richard Lester'in Üç Silahşörler'inde (The Three Musketeers) gözüktükten sonra Amerikalı rock müzisyeni Peter Wolf'la yaptığı evlilik manşetlere taşındı. Ertesi yıl 1974'te Roman Polanski'nin ünlü kara filmi Chinatown'da oynadı. Klasikler arasına giren bu filmdeki Evelyn Cross Mulwray rolü "Bonnie ve Clyde" dan beri gösterdiği en iyi performanstı ve ona Oscar, Altın Küre ve BAFTA adaylıklarını getirdi. Aynı yıl oynadığı The Towering Inferno'nun çok iş yapması da Dunaway'in bir eksiksiz bir star olarak da sinemada var olduğunu ispatladı. 1975'te Akbabanın Üç Günü (Three Days of the Condor)'nde Robert Redford'la başrolü paylaştı, bu politik gerilim filmi çok iyi eleştiriler almıştı.
1976 yılında hırslı bir televizyon yapımcısını canlandırdığı Sidney Lumet'in iğneleyici kara komedisi Network geldi, ve ona üçüncü girişiminde nihayet Oscar'ı kazandırdı. Notlar
1995 yılında otobiyografik kitabını yayınladı. Kitabın adı "Gatsby'yi Aramak: Benim Hayatım" idi. Dunaway 1974'te Muhteşem Gatsby (The Great Gatsby) filminin seçmelerine katılmış ama filmdeki Daisy Buchanan rolünü Mia Farrow'a kaptırmıştı.
Faye Dunaway hem En İyi Kadın Oyuncu Akademi Ödülü'nü hem de En Kötü Oyuncu Ahududu Ödülü'nü birlikte kazanabilmiş 3 aktristten biridir. Diğer ikisi Halle Berry ve Liza Minnelli idi. Broadway dışı bir oyun olan "Hogan's Goat"da gösterdiği olağandışı performans onun için bir çıkış oldu ve yönetmen Otto Preminger'le bir sözleşme yapmasını sağladı. 1967'de birlikte ilk filmi olan Hurry Sundown'ı çektiler, ancak Preminger'le araları çabuk bozuldu ve Dunaway yönetmenin "Skidoo" adlı filminde oynamayı reddetti ancak ortada bir sözleşme vardı. Los Angeles'da Arzu Tramvayı (A Streetcar Named Desire)'nın bir sahne uyarlamasında Blanche du Bois rolünde oynadıktan sonra Stanley Kramer'ın 1973 tarihli filmi Oklahoma Crude ile tekrar sinemaya döndü. Aynı yıl Richard Lester'in Üç Silahşörler'inde (The Three Musketeers) gözüktükten sonra Amerikalı rock müzisyeni Peter Wolf'la yaptığı evlilik manşetlere taşındı. Ertesi yıl 1974'te Roman Polanski'nin ünlü kara filmi Chinatown'da oynadı. Klasikler arasına giren bu filmdeki Evelyn Cross Mulwray rolü "Bonnie ve Clyde" dan beri gösterdiği en iyi performanstı ve ona Oscar, Altın Küre ve BAFTA adaylıklarını getirdi. Aynı yıl oynadığı The Towering Inferno'nun çok iş yapması da Dunaway'in bir eksiksiz bir star olarak da sinemada var olduğunu ispatladı. 1975'te Akbabanın Üç Günü (Three Days of the Condor)'nde Robert Redford'la başrolü paylaştı, bu politik gerilim filmi çok iyi eleştiriler almıştı.
1976 yılında hırslı bir televizyon yapımcısını canlandırdığı Sidney Lumet'in iğneleyici kara komedisi Network geldi, ve ona üçüncü girişiminde nihayet Oscar'ı kazandırdı. Hemen akabinde bir İngiliz yapımı olan Voyage of the Damned'de oynadı. İki yıl sonra 1978'de bir gerilim filmi olan Eyes of Laura Mars'ta rol aldı.

Hemen ardından televizyon için çekilen başka bir biyografik film Evita Peron'da oynadı. Kariyerinde tekrar bir düşüş başlamıştı.

1995 yılında otobiyografik kitabını yayınladı. Kitabın adı "Gatsby'yi Aramak: Benim Hayatım" idi. Dunaway 1974'te Muhteşem Gatsby (The Great Gatsby) filminin seçmelerine katılmış ama filmdeki Daisy Buchanan rolünü Mia Farrow'a kaptırmıştı.
Faye Dunaway hem En İyi Kadın Oyuncu Akademi Ödülü'nü hem de En Kötü Oyuncu Ahududu Ödülü'nü birlikte kazanabilmiş 3 aktristten biridir. Diğer ikisi Halle Berry ve Liza Minnelli idi. (Dunaway Ahududu Ödülü'nü Bo Derek'le paylaşmıştı). 43`üncü Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festivali`nin açılışı, görkemli bir törenle yapıldı. Açılışa Türk sineması sanatçılarının yanı sıra festivalin onur konukları `Şeytanın Avukatı`` ve `Ray`` filmlerinin unutulmaz yönetmeni Taylor Hackford ile Venedik Film Festivali`nde `En İyi Kadın Oyuncu`` ödülüne layık görülen aktrist Helen Mirren ve ünlü aktrist Faye Dunaway de katıldı. Dunaway`e, sinemaya katkıları dolayısıyla ``onur ödülü`` verildi. Türk sinemasını çok iyi bilmediğini, ancak Türk sanatçılardan Göksel Kortay`ın yakın arkadaşı olduğunu anlatan ünlü yıldız Dunaway, `Türkiye`de film yapmayı isterim. Varsa senaryo getirin, neden olmasın`` şeklinde konuştu. Törende, Aytaç Arman ile Yusuf Sezgin`e, `Yaşam Boyu Onur Ödülü`` verildi. Kartal Tibet ise `Yıldım Önal Anı Ödülü`nü aldı.

Faye Dunaway, Amerikan sinemasının gelmiş geçmiş en güzel film yıldızlarından. Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festivali`ne `onur konuğu` olarak katılan ünlü aktris yönetmenliğini yapacağı filmin ilk gösterimini çok sevdiği ülkemizde yapmak istediğini söyledi.
Bir kez Cannes`da izlemiş ve resimlerini çekmiştim. Bir kez bir Berlin festivalinde film başladıktan sonra gelip yanıma oturmuş, beni nefessiz bırakmış ve sonra birden kalkıp gitmişti. Bu kez bol bol karşılaştık. Hillside Su otelinde aynı katta kalıyorduk (beşinci kat) ve raslantı bu ya, sürekli koridorda karşılaşıyorduk. Bir keresinde lokantaya inmiş ve yemeğini seçerek iki küçük kaba koydurmuştu: küçük küçük kesilmiş bonfile parçaları ve de herhalde patlıcan oturtmadan aşırılmış, Türk usulü pişmiş patlıcanlar. Yanında bir garson vardı, ama bizzat taşımayı seçmişti! Ve bir kez basın toplantısında, bir kez de özel bir söyleşide onu dinledim. Doğruydu: özellikle TV çekimleri öncesi kaprisliydi, huysuzdu. Ama İstanbul`da konuştuğum Jeanne Moreau da öyle değil miydi? Onun yaptığı, 65 yaşındaki bir star için doğal bir şeydi: Güzelliğinden geri kalanı korumak, hain ışıkların ve beceriksiz fotoğrafçıların onu yaşlı, çirkin göstermesine engel olmaya çalışmak... Sinemaya 1967`de giren Dunaway, en çok Bonnie ve Clyde, Çin Mahallesi ve ona Oscar kazandıran (Network) Şebeke filmlerini seviyor. Onu bir anda yıldız yapan Bonnie ve Clyde`a bayılıyor: `Arthur Penn gibi bir yönetmen, Warren Beatty ve Gene Hackman gibi rol arkadaşları. Mucize gibi bir şeydi. Ve 1930`ların Amerika`sı anlatılırken, sanki 60`ların ruhunu yakalamıştık`. Warren onun için iyi bir dost: `O zamanlar tam bir parlak çocuktu. Ama aynı zamanda kişilikli, entelektüel bir yanı olduğu seziliyordu. Nitekim sonraları yönetmenliği de denedi ve başardı.` Diğer rol arkadaşlarını da özlemle anıyor: `Hep çok iyi oyuncularla oynadım. Küçük Dev Adam`da çalıştığımız Dustin Hoffman en komik olanıydı, beni sürekli güldürürdü. Çin Mahallesi`nde Jack Nicholson`la harika bir işbirliği çıkardık ve çok iyi arkadaş kaldık. O da tam bir şakacıdır.` Buna karşılık Akbabanın Üç Günü`nde çalıştığı Robert Redford`u takdir ediyor, ama şöyle diyor: `Soğuk ve mesafeliydi, bir türlü kaynaşamadık.`
TÜRKİYE`Yİ ÇOK SEVDİM Dunaway`in çok ilginç bir yüzü var, öylesine özel ve kişilikli... Onun için `Hollywood`un son starı` diyenler, biraz da bu yüze atıf yapıyor. Ama acaba yarattığı çok farklı karakterlerde bu yüzü nasıl kullandı? `Yüz konusuna hiç takmadım. Özel bir yüzüm olduğunu biliyorum. Bu bazen iyi, bazen kötüdür. Özellikle sıradan insanları oynamak isterseniz... Ama zaten bir karakter yaratmak, yüzün dışında bir şeydir. Yoğun bir çalışma, o kişiliğe bürünme inadı ve konsantrasyon gerektirir.` Tüm bunları, tiyatro eğitimi sırasında öğrendiğini belirtiyor: Boston Üniversitesi`nde drama derslerinde. Orda sınıf arkadaşı olan Göksel Kortay`la yıllardır kopmuşlar. Bir diğer dostu olan Ahmet Ertegün`ün Bodrum`daki evine hiç gelmemiş: `Ama zaten bu benim ilk Türkiye yolculuğum. Çok sevdim ve ilk fırsatta Ahmet Ertegün`e gelip kalacağım.` Starlık konusunda söyleyecek çok şeyi var: `Evet, benim için `son star` dedi birileri... Starlık biraz `glamor`dur, yani cinsel cazibe... Ama unutmayın: Starları Hollywood yarattı; özel yazılmış roller ve senaryolar, büyüleyici bir ışıklandırma, gizemli tanıtma gibi öğelerle. Bugün artık star yok, onları yaratan sistem ortadan kalktı. Çok iyi oyuncular var: Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett... Ama onlar bir Garbo veya Rita Hayworth değil. Onlar kadın değil, sanki birer tanrıça idiler. Bugün herkesin ayağı yere basıyor.` Günümüzde beğendiği bir gelişme var: `Artık orta yaşı geçen oyuncular için de roller var. Bakınız, Shirley Mac- Laine, Helen Mirren, Judi Dench sürekli çalışıyorlar. Eskiden böyle değildi. Modern sinemada yaşlılara da yer var.` Dunaway filmleri arasında en az, ünlü oyuncu Joan Crawford`u oynadığı, (Mommie Dearest) Sevgili Annem`i seviyor: `Bu filmle ona haksızlık ettik. Onu antipatik biçimde oynadım; senaryo öyle istiyordu. Onu karikatürize ettik. Oysa büyük bir oyuncu ve tam bir stardı.`
TAM BİR FESTİVAL KUŞU Yeni sinemayı seviyor, izliyor. ABD`de sinema yapmakta pek özgür olunamadığını, oysa Avrupa`da ve tüm dünyada çok daha özgürce şeyler yapıldığını savunuyor. Festivalleri de önemsiyor: Tam bir festival kuşu. Hong Kong`dan Bangkok`a birçoğuna gitmiş. Antalya`yı da `Kimi organizasyon eksiklerine karşın` çok sevmiş: `Yalnızca bana bir `onur ödülü` verdikleri için değil. Ama dünyanın bu yöresinde böylesine bir sanat olayı yarattıkları, böyle güzel filmler gösterdikleri için...` `RUHUMU YAKALAMIŞSINIZ` Sanatçının gözü artık yönetmenlikte. Yakın dostu yazar, artık yaşamayan Tennessee Williams`ın ona `armağan ettiği` bir kısa öyküsünü filme çekmiş, Sarı Gül adlı bu kısa filmle başarı kazanmış. Şimdi bir uzun film yönetmeye hazırlanıyor: Maria Callas`ı anlatan Master Class. Bizde de Yıldız Kenter`in oynadığı bu oyunda Callas`ı bizzat oynayacak. Bu onun yıllardır izlediği önemli bir proje. Filme Callas`ın gençliğini de katmak istiyor; o şişman ve sakar haliyle... Bir küçük rolü ise arkadaşı Elizabeth Taylor`un oynayacağını umut ediyor: `Hep dostlarımla çalışacağım. Elimizde yıllardır pişen bir senaryo var, iyi bir iş çıkacak.` Ve şöyle ekliyor: ` Sürekli iyi roller aramak, senaryo peşinde koşmak, gerekirse yönetmen veya yapımcılığa soyunmak... Ben henüz bıkmadım, yorulmadım. Göreceğim çok yer, yapacağım çok film var. Ama öncelikle yönetmen olarak. Ve bu filmi başarıyla bitirirsem, ilk gösterimlerinden birini burada, çok sevdiğim ülkenizde yapmak isterim.` Konuşmanın sonunda Dunaway`e son çıkan Bir Eleştirmenin Objektifinden albümümü gösteriyorum: Şaka değil, tam beş resmi var!.. İyice bakıyor ve beni çok mutlu eden şu sözleri söylüyor: `Fotoğrafçı olmanın da ötesine geçmiş ve benim ruhumu yakalamışsınız.` Umarım doğru söylemiştir!..

Early life
Bisset was born in Weybridge, Surrey, England, the daughter of Arlette Alexander Bisset, a homemaker and lawyer, and Max Fraser, a general practitioner. Her father was Scottish and her mother was of French and English descent; Bisset's mother cycled from Paris and boarded a British troop transport to escape the Germans during World War II. Bisset has a brother, Max. Her mother taught her to speak French fluently and she was educated at the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle in London. When Bisset was a teenager, her mother was diagnosed with disseminating sclerosis. Bisset's parents divorced in 1968, after 28 years of marriage. Bisset moved in to help her mother. She had taken ballet lessons as a child and now began taking acting lessons and fashion modeling to pay for them.
Career
In 1967, Bisset was cast in the movie Two for the Road. Next, she participated in the James Bond satire, Casino Royale (1967), as Miss Goodthighs. In 1968, Mia Farrow dropped out of the movie The Detective (1968), and the role went to Bisset. That same year, she was cast opposite Steve McQueen in Bullitt, and appeared in the 1970 disaster film Airport.
In 1973, she appeared in François Truffaut's Day for Night, where she earned the respect of European critics and moviegoers as a serious actress. She is the main character in Luigi Comencini's La donna della domenica in 1975. In 1977, Bisset made strides towards becoming a better-known entertainer in America with her movie The Deep (1977), co-starring Robert Shaw, where swimming underwater wearing only a T-shirt helped make the film a box office success, leading the producer Jon Peters to say, "That T-shirt made me a rich man,"[5] and led many to credit her with popularizing the wet T-shirt contest. At the time, Newsweek declared her "the most beautiful film actress of all time." About that time, a small Dutch-produced[citation needed] film Bisset had made some years earlier was re-released in the United States under the title Secrets. That movie featured the only extensive nude scenes of Bisset's career and the producers cashed in on her fame.

She earned her first Golden Globe nomination for the comedy Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? Soon thereafter, she played in the movies Rich and Famous (1981) with Candice Bergen, and Under the Volcano with Albert Finney (1984), for which she earned her a second Golden Globe nomination. In 1996, she was nominated for a César Award, for her role in La Cérémonie. Bisset has worked with directors such as François Truffaut, John Huston, George Cukor, and Roman Polanski. Several of her movies are French or Italian productions.
Bisset has appeared in made-for-TV movies, especially during the past 10 years. One of her later TV movies, in 2003, was America's Prince: The John F. Kennedy Jr. Story, in which she portrayed Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. Bisset's most recent television work was a recurring role as the mysterious James, during the fourth season of the FX series Nip/Tuck.

Though she has been linked with many actors, Bisset never married. Bisset is godmother to actress Angelina Jolie. She appeared with Jolie in the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005); however, the scenes never made the final cut.
Unlike many actresses of her generation who have difficulty finding work after 40, Bisset made a seamless transition from leading lady to character actor. She remains in demand in Hollywood and Europe. She told a Bermuda newspaper in 2004:
"This film business, perhaps more so in America than in Europe, has always been about young sexuality. It's not true of theatre, but in America, film audiences are young and they go to the cinema to see the sort of romance or adventure that appeals to them. It's not an intellectual cinema in America. But one mustn't be too greedy. One wants to be stimulated by the work as long as there is something to give. I think you have to be as flexible as possible. Perhaps you don't get handed the big American productions, but, quite honestly, who would want to be in a lot of them? Many of them are just puerile teenage filler, and they're not fascinating to be in. To be used in a part without depth is a frustrating feeling, when you know you have something to give, and the camera just sort of brushes past you, and doesn't get what you have to give. Most actresses I know are frustrated, but you have to adapt to the reality. I go and find a small part in something I find interesting, or find an independent film".
Bisset divides her time between homes in England and Beverly Hills, California.
Bisset in popular culture
In the NBC TV show Cheers, the episode "Bar Bet" has Sam Malone faced with a bet made with an old drinking buddy a long time ago. The bet: he would marry Jacqueline Bisset by a certain date or lose his bar. Rather than losing the bet because he'd never marry the Jacqueline Bisset, or welching on the bet and having to admit under oath that he was drunk when he made the bet, he found an American with the same name and brought her back to Boston.
Bisset is mentioned in the Al Stewart song "Clifton in the Rain."
In Garry Shandling's TV show "It's Garry Shandling Show," a married friend confides that he keeps his sex life alive by thinking of his wife Jackie as Bisset. (She, in turn, thinks of him as Pete Rose.)
In Shandling's HBO TV show The Larry Sanders Show, producer Artie says he once dated Bisset.
Bisset also co-starred in the 1976 film, End of the Game, featuring John Voight and Robert Shaw. She is not related to American actress Josie Bissett.

In 1977, Bisset made strides towards becoming a better-known entertainer in America with her movie The Deep (1977), co-starring Robert Shaw, where swimming underwater wearing only a T-shirt helped make the film a box office success, leading the producer Jon Peters to say, "That T-shirt made me a rich man,"[5] and led many to credit her with popularizing the wet T-shirt contest. At the time, Newsweek declared her "the most beautiful film actress of all time." About that time, a small Dutch-produced[citation needed] film Bisset had made some years earlier was re-released in the United States under the title Secrets. That movie featured the only extensive nude scenes of Bisset's career and the producers cashed in on her fame.

She earned her first Golden Globe nomination for the comedy Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? Soon thereafter, she played in the movies Rich and Famous (1981) with Candice Bergen, and Under the Volcano with Albert Finney (1984), for which she earned her a second Golden Globe nomination. In 1996, she was nominated for a César Award, for her role in La Cérémonie. Bisset has worked with directors such as François Truffaut, John Huston, George Cukor, and Roman Polanski. Several of her movies are French or Italian productions.
Bisset has appeared in made-for-TV movies, especially during the past 10 years. One of her later TV movies, in 2003, was America's Prince: The John F. Kennedy Jr. Story, in which she portrayed Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. Bisset's most recent television work was a recurring role as the mysterious James, during the fourth season of the FX series Nip/Tuck.

Though she has been linked with many actors, Bisset never married. Bisset is godmother to actress Angelina Jolie. She appeared with Jolie in the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005); however, the scenes never made the final cut.
Unlike many actresses of her generation who have difficulty finding work after 40, Bisset made a seamless transition from leading lady to character actor. She remains in demand in Hollywood and Europe. She told a Bermuda newspaper in 2004:
"This film business, perhaps more so in America than in Europe, has always been about young sexuality. It's not true of theatre, but in America, film audiences are young and they go to the cinema to see the sort of romance or adventure that appeals to them. It's not an intellectual cinema in America. But one mustn't be too greedy. One wants to be stimulated by the work as long as there is something to give. I think you have to be as flexible as possible. Perhaps you don't get handed the big American productions, but, quite honestly, who would want to be in a lot of them? Many of them are just puerile teenage filler, and they're not fascinating to be in. To be used in a part without depth is a frustrating feeling, when you know you have something to give, and the camera just sort of brushes past you, and doesn't get what you have to give. Most actresses I know are frustrated, but you have to adapt to the reality. I go and find a small part in something I find interesting, or find an independent film".
Bisset divides her time between homes in England and Beverly Hills, California.

In the NBC TV show Cheers, the episode "Bar Bet" has Sam Malone faced with a bet made with an old drinking buddy a long time ago. The bet: he would marry Jacqueline Bisset by a certain date or lose his bar. Rather than losing the bet because he'd never marry the Jacqueline Bisset, or welching on the bet and having to admit under oath that he was drunk when he made the bet, he found an American with the same name and brought her back to Boston.
Bisset is mentioned in the Al Stewart song "Clifton in the Rain."

She also appeared intermittently on Roberto Benigni's Italian comedy show, The Other Sunday. However, she did not decide to stay full time in New York until her marriage to Martin Scorsese (1979–1982). After her marriage to Scorsese, she married Jon Wiedemann (1983–1986), a Harvard-educated model from Texas (now a Microsoft executive), and gave birth to a daughter, Elettra. Later, she dated David Lynch, Gary Oldman, and Gregory Mosher.

Susan Sarandon (born October 4, 1946) is an Academy Award-winning American actress. She has worked in films and television since 1970, and won an Oscar for her performance in the 1995 film, Dead Man Walking. She is also noted for her social and political activism for a variety of liberal causes.
Early life
Sarandon, the eldest of nine children, was born Susan Abigail Tomalin in New York City, the daughter of Lenora Marie (née Criscione) and Phillip Leslie Tomalin, who worked as an advertising executive, television producer, and nightclub singer during the big band era. Sarandon's father was of English, Irish, and Welsh ancestry and her mother was of Sicilian/Italian descent; the family was Roman Catholic. In 2006, Sarandon and 10 of her relatives (including her partner Tim Robbins and her son Miles) traveled to Wales to trace her family's Welsh genealogy. Their journey was documented by the BBC Wales programme, Coming Home: Susan Sarandon.
Sarandon graduated from Edison High School, in Edison, New Jersey, in 1964. She then attended The Catholic University of America from 1964 to 1968, earning a BA in drama, and working with noted drama coach and master teacher, Father Gilbert Hartke.
Career
In 1969, Sarandon went to a casting call for the motion-picture Joe with her then husband Chris Sarandon. Although he did not get a part, she was cast in a major role of a disaffected teen who disappears into the seedy underworld (the film was released in 1970). Five years later, she appeared in the cult favorite The Rocky Horror Picture Show. That same year, she also played the female lead in The Great Waldo Pepper, opposite Robert Redford. Her most controversial film appearance was in The Hunger in 1983, a modern vampire story which turned out to be a critical and box office flop. The film has gained some cult status for a rather graphic lesbian love scene between Sarandon and co-star Catherine Deneuve. It was the first mainstream American film to feature such a scene between two star actresses. However, Sarandon did not become a "household name" until her breakthrough in the 1988 film Bull Durham. which became a huge commercial and critical success.
Sarandon received five Academy Award nominations for best actress, in Atlantic City (1981), Thelma & Louise (1991), Lorenzo's Oil (1992), and The Client (1994), finally winning in 1995 for Dead Man Walking. Her other movies include Stepmom (1998), Anywhere but Here (1999), Cradle Will Rock (1999), The Banger Sisters (2002), Shall We Dance (2004), Alfie (2004), Romance & Cigarettes (2005) and Elizabethtown (2005).
Sarandon has appeared in two episodes of The Simpsons, one as herself ("Bart Has Two Mommies"), and another as a ballet teacher, "Homer vs. Patty and Selma". She has made appearances on the shows Friends, Malcolm in the Middle, Mad TV, Saturday Night Live, Chappelle's Show, and Rescue Me.
Sarandon has contributed the narration to some two dozen documentary films, many dealing with social and political issues; in addition, she has served as the presenter on many installments of the PBS documentary series, Independent Lens. In 2007 she hosted and presented Mythos, a series of lectures by the late American mythology professor Joseph Campbell.
Sarandon joined the cast of the adaptation of The Lovely Bones, opposite Rachel Weisz, and appeared with her daughter, Eva Amurri, in Middle of Nowhere; both of the movies were filmed in 2007.
Most recently, Sarandon joined the cast of "Peacock" starring opposite Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Bill Pullman and Josh Lucas. Filming will take place in Des Moines, Iowa.
She is also taking part in the American version of the hit UK television series Who Do You Think You Are? for NBC, in which celebrities trace their family trees. The executive producer is Lisa Kudrow and will feature hereself, Lisa, Sarah Jessica Parker and others. The start date for the series has been confirmed as April 20th 2009.

While in college, she met and married fellow student Chris Sarandon in 1967. They divorced in 1979 and she retained her married name as her stage name.
In 1981, readers of Playboy magazine voted hers the Best Celebrity Breasts of the Summer of 1981. In response, she said, "It must seem to a lot of people that I am always naked or making love in my films. I think it's very hard to be in a scene and not be upstaged by your nipples".
In the mid-1980s, Sarandon dated director Franco Amurri, with whom she had a daughter in 1985, actress Eva Amurri. Since 1988, Sarandon has been in a relationship with actor Tim Robbins, whom she met while filming Bull Durham. The couple have two sons: Jack Henry (born 1989) and Miles Guthrie (born 1992). Sarandon and Robbins are often involved in the same social and political causes. They live in New York City.
Sarandon is a supporter of Collingwood Football Club and has been seen watching them play at the M.C.G.
Political activism

Sarandon has also expressed support for various tolerance and human rights causes that are similar philosophically to ideas found among the Christian left.
In 1995 Sarandon was one of many Hollywood actors, directors and writers who were interviewed for the documentary, The Celluloid Closet, which looked at how Hollywood films have depicted homosexuality.
In 1999, she was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and in that capacity has actively supported the organization's global advocacy, as well as the work of the Canadian UNICEF Committee.

However, during the 2004 election campaign, she withheld support for Nader's bid, being among several "Nader 2000 Leaders" who signed a petition urging voters to vote for Democratic Party candidate John Kerry.
Sarandon and Robbins both took an early stance against the 2003 invasion of Iraq, with Sarandon stating that she was firmly against the concept of the war as a pre-emptive strike. Prior to a 2003 protest sponsored by the United for Peace and Justice coalition, she said that many Americans "do not want to risk their children or the children of Iraq." Sarandon was one of the first to appear in a series of political ads sponsored by TrueMajority, an organization established by Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream founder Ben Cohen. Also in 2003, Sarandon appeared in a "Love is Love is Love" commercial, promoting the acceptance of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals.
In 2004, she served on the advisory committee for the group 2004 Racism Watch. She hosted a section of the Live 8 concert in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2005.
Along with anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, Sarandon took part in a 2006 Mother's Day protest sponsored by Code Pink; she has expressed interest in portraying Sheehan in a movie. In January 2007, she appeared with Robbins and Jane Fonda at an anti-war rally in Washington, D.C. in support of a Congressional measure to withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq.
In 2006 she was one of eight women selected to carry in the Olympic flag at the Opening Ceremony of the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, Italy
On May 29, 2008 Sarandon announced that she would move to Canada or Italy if John McCain were to be elected President of the United States.

Since 1988, Sarandon has been in a relationship with actor Tim Robbins, whom she met while filming Bull Durham. The couple have two sons: Jack Henry (born 1989) and Miles Guthrie (born 1992). Sarandon and Robbins are often involved in the same social and political causes. They live in New York City.
Sarandon is a supporter of Collingwood Football Club and has been seen watching them play at the M.C.G.
Political activism
Susan Sarandon with Tanzanian Children in Dar es Salaam, 2000Sarandon is noted for her active support of progressive and left-liberal political causes, ranging from donations made to organizations such as EMILY's List to participating in a 1983 delegation to Nicaragua sponsored by MADRE, an organization that promotes "social, environmental and economic justice." Sarandon has also expressed support for various tolerance and human rights causes that are similar philosophically to ideas found among the Christian left.
In 1995 Sarandon was one of many Hollywood actors, directors and writers who were interviewed for the documentary, The Celluloid Closet, which looked at how Hollywood films have depicted homosexuality.
In 1999, she was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and in that capacity has actively supported the organization's global advocacy, as well as the work of the Canadian UNICEF Committee.
Susan Sarandon in April 2007During the 2000 election, Sarandon supported Ralph Nader's run for President, serving as a co-chair of the National Steering Committee of Nader 2000. However, during the 2004 election campaign, she withheld support for Nader's bid, being among several "Nader 2000 Leaders" who signed a petition urging voters to vote for Democratic Party candidate John Kerry.
Sarandon and Robbins both took an early stance against the 2003 invasion of Iraq, with Sarandon stating that she was firmly against the concept of the war as a pre-emptive strike. Prior to a 2003 protest sponsored by the United for Peace and Justice coalition, she said that many Americans "do not want to risk their children or the children of Iraq." Sarandon was one of the first to appear in a series of political ads sponsored by TrueMajority, an organization established by Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream founder Ben Cohen. Also in 2003, Sarandon appeared in a "Love is Love is Love" commercial, promoting the acceptance of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals.
In 2004, she served on the advisory committee for the group 2004 Racism Watch. She hosted a section of the Live 8 concert in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2005.
Along with anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, Sarandon took part in a 2006 Mother's Day protest sponsored by Code Pink; she has expressed interest in portraying Sheehan in a movie. In January 2007, she appeared with Robbins and Jane Fonda at an anti-war rally in Washington, D.C. in support of a Congressional measure to withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq.
In 2006 she was one of eight women selected to carry in the Olympic flag at the Opening Ceremony of the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, Italy
On May 29, 2008 Sarandon announced that she would move to Canada or Italy if John McCain were to be elected President of the United States.

Mary Kathleen Turner (born June 19, 1954) is an American actress. She came to fame during the 1980s, after roles in the Hollywood films Body Heat, Peggy Sue Got Married, Romancing the Stone, The War of the Roses, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Prizzi's Honor. She also was a guest star in Californication on Showtime.
Turner was born in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Patsy (née Magee) and Allen Richard Turner, a U.S. Foreign Service officer who grew up in China (where Turner's great-grandfather had been a Methodist Christian missionary).
Her father, a diplomat, had been illegally imprisoned by the Japanese Empire for four years during the World War II. As a girl, Turner lived in Canada, Venezuela, and England, and she was living in Cuba at the time that Fidel Castro took over the government – and then the United States broke off diplomatic relations with Cuba, forcing the staff members of the American embassy in Havana to leave the country. Turner has two brothers and one sister. While attending high school in England, she was a gymnast, and she also took classes at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
In her early years, Turner was interested in performing. Her father did not encourage her: "My father was of missionary stock," she later explained, "so theater and acting were just one step up from being a streetwalker, you know? So when I was performing in school, he would drive my mom [there] and sit in the car. She'd come out at intermissions and tell him, 'She's doing very well.'"
Kathleen graduated from the American School in London in 1972. Her father died of a coronary thrombosis during that same year, and then his family members moved back to the United States. Kathleen attended Southwest Missouri State University at Springfield for two years (where a fellow classmate was John Goodman), then earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in 1977. During that period, Turner acted in several productions directed by the film and stage director Steve Yeager.

Oscar sahibi görüntü yönetmeni Janusz Kaminski ile 20 Mayıs 1995 - 21 Aralık 2001 tarihleri arasında evli kalmıştır.
